House Teams at KWPS
At Kirkham and Wesham Primary School, every child belongs to one of our four House Teams. Our houses help to create a strong sense of belonging, encourage teamwork and celebrate individual and collective success across the school.
Our four House Teams are:
🔴 Red
🔵 Blue
🟡 Yellow
🟢 Green
Children remain in the same House Team throughout their time at KWPS, helping to build friendships across different year groups and develop a strong sense of identity within the school community.
Working Together
Our House Teams encourage children to work together, support one another and demonstrate our school values of Kindness, Resilience, Equity, Honesty, Responsibility and Pride.
Children are encouraged to:
- support and encourage their teammates
- demonstrate excellent teamwork
- celebrate each other's achievements
- show good sportsmanship
- represent their house with pride.
Sports Day
Our House Teams play an important role during our annual Sports Day.
Throughout the day, children compete alongside members of their house in a range of athletic events and team challenges. Every child is encouraged to participate, do their very best and support others, regardless of the final result.
Sports Day is always a highlight of the school year, celebrating determination, teamwork, resilience and enjoyment while promoting healthy competition in a positive and inclusive environment.
Building Belonging
Being part of a House Team helps children develop friendships across the school and strengthens our sense of community.
Whether taking part in Sports Day, whole-school events or celebrating successes together, our House Teams encourage every child to feel valued and connected.
By working together and supporting one another, our pupils continue to demonstrate our school motto:
Belong, Believe and Be the Best You Can Be.
