Sustainability and Climate Action at Kirkham and Wesham Primary School
At Kirkham and Wesham Primary School, we are committed to meeting the Department for Education’s expectations for sustainability and climate action. Through our comprehensive Sustainability and Climate Action Plan (November 2025), we are taking a whole-school approach to decarbonisation, biodiversity, climate resilience and green skills education.
Our pupils play an active role through initiatives such as energy and recycling audits, participation in the National Education Nature Park, habitat mapping, outdoor learning and Eco-Council leadership. Sustainability is embedded across the curriculum, particularly within Science and PSHE, ensuring children develop the knowledge, skills and awareness needed for a greener future.
By combining practical action with high-quality climate education, we are preparing our children to become responsible global citizens and future contributors to the green economy.
